Hospital recruiting a wide variety of temporary employees

Guelph General Hospital has launched a hiring campaign to fill as many as 100 part-time and full-time positions to help manage the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We expect this demand to continue in the coming months,” says Marianne Walker, Hospital President and CEO. “We owe it to our community to do all we can to care for patients and families, as well as ensure the well-being of our staff. Filling these temporary roles will help and may also provide short-term employment for people who are not presently working.”

Extensive safety training including diligence with infection control precautions will be provided. “Every possible measure is taken to support the continued well-being of everyone in our Hospital,” she notes.

Walker says current staff have stepped up “in an extraordinary way,” working longer hours and volunteering to fill extra shifts. “I have never been more proud of our staff. However, we cannot expect this of them in the long term.”

In addition to filling clinical positions such as nurses, laboratory technologists and infection control specialists, a range of non-clinical staff will be hired in departments such as housekeeping, maintenance and food service. Positions will fill both day and night shifts and may be full-time or part-time. Previous hospital experience is not required. For clinical roles, experience in another healthcare or clinic setting is welcome. Students are also encouraged to apply.
