Guelph General Hospital (GGH) was recently recognized by Canadian Blood Services (CBS) as the winner of its Hospital Challenge. GGH was the top hospital in Ontario for the percentage of staff who donated blood.
Not long ago, the Hospital held a staff blood donor drive for the first time in recent memory. A total of 68 units were collected including 42 from first-time donors.

"Going into this we weren't sure how staff would respond," said Perry Hagerman, GGH's Senior Communications Specialist and one of the blood clinic organizers. "In true GGH fashion, there was a tremendous response."
Perry says the Hospital plans to make it an annual event and hopes to do even better next year.
