Our Accountabilities PDF Print E-mail

Guelph General Hospital is committed to being accountable to the community it serves. Recently, we signed our Hospital Services Accountability Agreement with the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network. A copy of the agreement is available here.

Also each year, we participate in Hospital Report. It is one of the largest and most comprehensive studies on hospital performance in Canada. In the 2005 Acute Care Report Guelph General Hospital was named as one of only four hospitals in the province to qualify being labelled "high performing." Complete copies of all Hospital Reports are available at www.hospitalreport.ca.

Another way of being accountable to our community is through the Hospital's Annual Report. It is available by clicking here.

In April 2009, the Ontario Hospital Association launched a web site that gathers together various indicators of hospital performance.

Also, the Province of Ontario is investing in reducing wait times and improving access to five major health care services: cancer surgery, cardiac procedures, cataract surgery, hip and knee replacements, as well as MRI and CT exams. To find information on Guelph General Hospital's wait times, go to www.waittimes.net and click on "Wait times in your area."

In 2007, the Hospital completed an intensive review by the Canadian Council of Health Services Accreditation. The Hospital received full accrediation with only three recommendations - a significant achievement. A copy of the 149-page report is available here.

Finally, we continue to work towards a hospital environment where there are no barriers. Guided by the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001, Guelph General Hospital created an annual Accessibility Plan. It documents all of our initiatives to identify, remove and prevent barriers to people with disabilities who live, work in or use our hospital’s facilities and services.

The Accessibility Working Group, comprised of dedicated staff and members of the community, reviews the initiatives and establishes new ones to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our diverse population.
