Thank you for your interest in Guelph General Hospital (GGH) which is a comprehensive, acute care community hospital. With 182 beds, GGH offers a wide range of primary, secondary and selected tertiary services within a state-of-the-art facility. We have 22 Level 2 and 3 ICU beds, provide care for tele-stroke patients, and are the regional provider for vascular surgery. GGH is affiliated with the Waterloo campus of McMaster University Medical School with medical student and resident teaching opportunities available. GGH has been named one of three Waterloo area “top employers” for 2015.

Obstetrician-Gynecologist
Guelph General Hospital is seeking a generalist Obstetrician-Gynecologist to join our team. GGH has a level II obstetrical unit and Special Care Nursery providing care for approximately 1,700 births per year. We also provide a obstetrical/gynecological consultation service to our community, supporting a population of 155,000.

Our department is focused on quality improvement, patient safety and providing patient-centered care and is searching for like-minded candidates.

The position will initially be a job-share, progressing to a full-time position by Spring 2019. Suitable candidates must hold certification and be in good standing with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be licensed to practice in Ontario.

Anaesthesiologist 
The Department of Anaesthesiology is currently seeking a full time Anesthesiologist to join a group of 12 Anesthesiologists sharing all clinical duties including on call assignments according to the following terms:

  • Successful Candidate is expected to join the department anytime starting from May 2018 through July 2018.
  • Candidate must be FRCPC certified and eligible for independent registration with CPSO at the time of commencing clinical duties at Guelph General Hospital.
  • Canadian postgraduate 5th year residents (PGY5) are welcome to apply provided that they will meet all the conditions outlined above.
  • According to GGH bylaws, this full time position is designated as a locum 3 with promotion to an associate status after one year of probation.
  • This position is an independent fee for service structure for OHIP billing plus applicable on call stipend.

Guelph General Hospital is a 182-bed hospital with a 22-bed closed ICU and stepdown units. We offer a wide range of both adult and paediatric surgical services including designated, busy, regional vascular and bariatric programs. The department of Anesthesiology is well equipped with all modern pharmaceuticals and state-of-the art anesthesia equipment. Our call assignment usually averages 1:7, allowing a great work-life balance. The department also provides a dedicated obstetrical coverage on Monday to Friday basis, for which the on call Anesthesiologist receives additional stipend from the hospital.

Community Neurologist

Guelph General Hospital (GGH) is seeking a Neurologist licensed with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada to provide inpatient neurology consultations and work along with our other outpatient neurologists in the community.

The successful candidates must be licensed to practice in Ontario and be in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and display competence in both inpatient and outpatient neurology.  Interest in stroke, EEGs and MS/movement disorders would be considered an asset.

Overnight Intensivist

GGH will be transitioning to a fully closed-access model of care for our level 2 and 3 ICU’s.  We are seeking locum physicians to join our critical care team to provide overnight coverage beginning in the fall of 2016.

The successful candidates must be licensed to practice in Ontario and display competence in resuscitation, airway management and conditions common to our Level 3 ICU including sepsis, respiratory failure, and post-thrombolysis acute stroke management. They must also be competent to manage conditions common to our Level 2 ICU such as respiratory failure requiring BiPAP, acute coronary syndromes, and rapid atrial fibrillation. Candidates with a Fellowship in Critical Care are encouraged to apply. Candidates who hold a fellowship in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, may also have the opportunity to concurrently cover the overnight general internal medicine service.
