WiFi for Patients and Visitors
Families and friends are invited to visit any time of day, seven days a week. To support safety and security, visitors coming to the Hospital after 8:30 p.m. and before 6 a.m. need to enter the Hospital through our Emergency Department and be signed in.There may be times when visiting may be adjusted in timing and the number of visitors based on the clinical care needs of the patient.
Those wanting to park on Hospital property after hours are encouraged to use the street-level lot next door in front of 73 Delhi Street.
Visitors who are unwell are asked to stay away from the Hospital and call instead. If someone planning to visit you has any of the following unexplained symptoms – cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea – please ask them to not visit.
At any time, visiting may be restricted subject to the discretion of the healthcare provider. Some units, such as our Bob Ireland Family Intensive Care Unit have unique visiting hours and restrictions. Please ask your healthcare provider for details.
Intensive Care Unit Visiting Hours
Who can visit in the Intensive Care Unit?
Family, as defined by the patient and/or decision maker.
Each patient can only have two visitor at a time at the bedside.
Please speak to your family members' nurse regarding children visiting.
When can family visit in the Intensive Care Unit?
Visiting is flexible with some restrictions.
Brief visits are encouraged.
There is no visiting from 7-8 a.m. and 7-8 p.m. This is shift change and nursing staff give and receive reports at this time and need time to assess their patients.
You may be asked to leave the unit so that patients can have procedures or test, such as X-rays, and at the discretion of the nursing staff.

Hospital bills can be paid either online or at our switchboard in the main lobby or by telephone. Payments by telephone can be made 24 hours a day by calling toll free 1-855-329-5684. Online and telephone payments accept both Visa and MasterCard.
The Bistro/Tim Hortons is located on Level 2 beside the main elevators. There is also a Tim Hortons' Kiosk located just inside the Delhi Street entrance on Level 3.
The hours are:
Weekdays 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Weekends and holidays 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Courtyard Boutique is located in the main lobby on Level 1 and can be reached at ext. 2246. The Boutique is open Mondays to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays 2 to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Getting to the hospital
Guelph General Hospital is located on 115 Delhi St. The emergency entrance is off the street. The main entrance and parking are located behind the building. Access to the building after 8 p.m. and before 6 a.m. is through the Emergency Department only. Additional parking is available beside the hospital at 73 Delhi Street.
By bus: The Route 12 bus on Guelph Transit - "Guelph General Hospital" stops in front of the hospital. By car: From Highway 401, take Exit 295, Highway 6 North and proceed north into Guelph. Remain on Highway 6 (Hanlon Expressway), then turn right at Speedvale Avenue. Follow Speedvale for about three kilometres and turn right on Delhi Street. The hospital is located on the left (east side). From north of Guelph, take the Highway 6 South to Guelph. Turn left on Speedvale Avenue. Turn right at the second set of lights (Delhi Street). The hospital is on the left.
From east of the Guelph, take Highway 7 which becomes York Road as it enters Guelph. Turn right on Victoria (second light), then left on Eramosa Road and then right on Delhi Street. The hospital is on your right. From northeast of Guelph, take Highway 24 which becomes Eramosa Road as it enters Guelph. Turn right on Delhi Street and the hospital is on your right.
From west of Guelph, take Highway 7 which becomes Woodlawn Road as it enters Guelph. Turn right on Woolwich Street, left on Speedvale Avenue and right on Delhi Street. The hospital is on your left.
The hospital switchboard/information desk is located in the main lobby. It is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
For drivers entering our main parking lots (behind the Hospital or in front of 73 Delhi St.), they have three options. They can either push a button and get a parking stub, or they can “Tap ‘n Go” with a credit card or, tap a purchased H PASS parking card when entering the lot.
When leaving the lot, those with a parking stub can either use the stub to pay at a Pay Station with cash or credit, or pay right at the exit gate using the stub and a credit card. For those who entered using “Tap ‘n Go”, they can only pay at the exit gate and must use the same credit card as when entering the lot. If using an H PASS, just tap and go.
The Hospital has flexible parking rates for those using the gated parking lots which includes free parking to those parked 20 minutes or less.
Our parking rates are $2.50 per ½ hour up to a maximum of $12 per day. Also available is a 24-hour pass with unlimited entry and exit for $14.

- 10, 24-hour passes - $70
- 30, 24-hour passes - $210
- gives unlimited in-and-out privileges over a 24-hour period
- can be used any time within a year of purchase
- can be used on consecutive and non-consecutive days.
Passes are available 24/7 at the Information Desk on Level 1 and during business hours at our Bariatric Centre located at 125 Delhi St.
In addition, there are a some "Display and Pay" metered spaces. However, if you need to park longer than two hours, using the parking lot is recommended. There is no overnight meter parking on Delhi Street.
The money raised helps support quality, patient-centred care at the Hospital.
The Ontario Hospital Association launched a Patient Safety Tips campaign across all hospitals in Ontario. The goal of the campaign is to provide information to patients to help them make their health care as safe as possible. The five tips are:
- Be involved in your health care.
- Speak up if you have questions or concerns about your care.
- Tell a member of your healthcare team about your past illnesses and your current health condition.
- Bring all of your medicines with you when you go to the hospital or to a medical appointment.
- Tell a member of your healthcare team if you have ever had an allergic or bad reaction to any medicine or food.
Make sure you know what to do when you go home from the hospital or from your medical appointment.
Pet Visiting is not permitted at GGH except for compassionate reasons for palliative patients. Service animals are allowed access to the facility in accordance with The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Smoking is prohibited both in the hospital and on hospital property.
The Hospitality Network provides these services and fees must be paid in advance. Patients simply dial 3300 from the patient’s bedside phone to order television and phone service. Patient family members or friends may also call 1-866-223-3686 from any phone outside of the hospital during call center hours to activate services for loved ones or family members. Methods of payment for the automated TV rental service will be Visa or MasterCard.
Premium TV Service: $12.50 per day (plus applicable taxes)
Telephone Service: $4.30 per day (plus applicable taxes)
If you have arranged telephone service, your family and friends can call you directly by dialing 519 837-6440 and entering the extension shown on your phone followed by the # sign. To make a long distance call from your room, dial “8” then “0”.

A Tim Hortons Kiosk is open 24/7 and is located just inside the Delhi Street entrance on Level 3.
Residents of Ontario with OHIP coverage are entitled to complete access to health care while in the Hospital. OHIP covers the cost of a standard ward room (four or more beds in one room). You may choose to upgrade your room to:
Semi-private: (two beds in one room) total additional cost of $215 per day.
Private: (single room) total additional cost of $250 per day.
GGH has video surveillance in effect both in and around the hospital. The purpose of video surveillance is to enhance the safety and security of patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, visitors and property. It is also used to deter, detect, and assist in investigations, as required.
- Your completed pre-admission form.
- Photo ID, such as a driver's license.
- Your Ontario Health Insurance card.
- Your Guelph General Hospital card, if applicable.
- Private health insurance information, if applicable (*it is the patient's responsibility to know what their extended health covers).
- Cheque, credit card, or debit card to cover use of hospital services, such as telephone fees.
- Pajamas, nightgown, bathrobe, and non-slip slippers, if you wish.
- Personal toiletries such as unscented soap and shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, denture cream and face creams.
- Comfortable clothes to wear home, such as a track suit.
- Small amount of money to purchase newspapers, magazines, etc.
- Assistive devices, such as canes, walkers, crutches, hearing aid devices, or magnifying glasses, labelled clearly with your name.
- A list of prescription medications, dosages, and schedule.
- Names and phone numbers of family members or friends to contact in an emergency.
- Written list of past hospitalizations, illnesses, surgeries, and allergies.
You can play an active role in your own care by helping health professionals gather your medication list. The best way to do this is by coming to the hospital with all of your home medications in their original containers.
Medications can include:
- Prescription medications,
“Over-the-counter” or non-prescription medications,
- Eye drops or ear drops,
- Inhalers or puffers,
- Vitamins, and Herbal products or remedies.
The Hospital offers a free WiFi service called GGH-Guest throughout the building. Connecting is simple and is similar to any other WiFi hotspot. Just select GGH-Guest from the available wireless networks and open your Internet browser. You will be directed to a page where you can choose between English or French and view the Terms & Conditions before connecting and surfing.
